What is Platelet Rich Plasma?

(PRP) is a safe and effective injectable treatment that harnesses the body's own healing and regenerative processes. Platelets contain high concentrations of growth factors, which can stimulate collagen production and tissue regeneration in the treated area. PRP has been used for many years in orthopedics to treat muscle and tendon injuries. More recently in aesthetic medicine, PR is a promising treatment for certain types of hair loss as well as skin rejuvenation.

How does Platelet Rich Plasma Reverse Hair Loss?

PRP can also increase blood supply to the follicles. As a result, this maintains the growth phase of the hair cycle, decreases hair shedding, and can improve overall hair quality. After your PRP is obtained, it is injected with a series of tiny needles throughout the entire scalp.

How many sessions of Platelet Rich Plasma are needed?

A minimum of 3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended for best results. Subsequent maintenance treatments are recommended every
6-12 months. Individual responses and results may vary.

What to expect during the Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment?

PRP is obtained by drawing a small amount of your own blood and placing it into a centrifuge. The centrifuge rapidly spins the blood sample, isolating the platelets and growth factors from other components of your blood and concentrating them into the plasma. The plasma is then drawn into a syringe and injected into the treatment area. PR is commonly injected into the scalp for hair loss and into the skin of the face and neck for skin rejuvenation. PR can also be applied after microneedling for a synergistic effect. Since PRP is derived from your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reactions.

How does Platelet Rich Plasma Rejuvenate Skin?

PRP is injected intradermally, which leads to increased collagen production and improved skin elasticity. PR can be used to soften fine lines, volumize facial contours, and improve skin texture. It can also be helpful to decrease hyperpigmentation.
